A super example of a Smiths Everest type wristwatch, this is far better than in the photos. This is the model of Smiths watch used in the 1953 advert, said by Smiths on the original expedition receipt to have been chosen by the team.
33.4mm Dennison case with full internal markings. Movement number c218024.
This example dates from around 1955 case serial number 133349. Excellent 12 ligne 15 jewel c series movement, with frosted gilt finish, nickel coloured balance with screws, flat hairspring, straight line one piece click and click spring. Cruciform dust-cap movement shock-proofing ring. Chromed top steel screw in back. Fully overhauled to a high standard, keeps good time. The chrome on this case is far better than any other examples I have seen and is more like the later hard shiny chromed finish Smiths used by the late 1950's.
Fitted with the original winding crown, still in acceptable condition. The crystal has been replaced as well as the case seal, and a new 18mm ZRC cowhide strap has been used.
Comes with a box and unregistered papers.
